Sankofa Encounter Team *
Sankofa Encounter Team *
Sankofa is a Ghanaian word. It refers to the concept of gleaning wisdom from the past, then applying that wisdom to imagine a better future.
Literally translated, it means to go back and get it.
This Encounter Team will go back and get the civil rights history of the United States as it relates to race and then apply that history towards racial healing within our current context.
This is an immersive learning experience, and as part of this team you will…
Learn the historical context of black and white relations in the United States
Visit historical sites in Tuskegee, Birmingham, and Montgomery, Alabama
Connect the history of race relations to today’s racial tensions
Discuss racial healing through the lens of Scripture and a Kingdom mindset
This Encounter Team will offer you proximity to the historical struggles of America’s black community, help you navigate today’s racial tensions with greater empathy, and encourage you to pursue racial healing as we embody the love of Jesus in our everyday, ordinary lives.
