OUR VISION FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS
We believe that life with God is meant to be lived together. Community Groups are a place to practice what it means to welcome people who are different from us, learn to belong and help others belong, and grow in our walk with God together. We believe that a formative community is built through proximity, shared responsibility, and commitment.
That means making time to be together, being intentional in how we show up, and contributing to what is being built as a group.

HOW WE PRACTICE COMMUNITY
-

Proximity
Intentionally gathering with people who live near one another, creating opportunities to build relationships through shared places, experiences, and rhythms of life.
-

Shared Responsibility
Recognizing that everyone has a part to play by showing up, participating, and contributing to what is being built together.
-

Commitment
Choosing to make time for one another and consistently show up as we practice what it means to live life with God together.
THE ON-RAMP
The Community Group On-Ramp is designed to help you take your next step. We’ll begin with three Sunday nights together on September 27, October 4, and October 11, where you’ll hear the vision for community, experience what a group can look and feel like, meet new people, and begin building relationships. From there, your group will continue meeting on its own as you explore what it looks like to live life with God together.
-
These groups are designed for people that call Port City Church home and want to commit to walking along side a group of people for an extended amount of time.
-
All three weeks are required to get into a Community Group because each week will build off of the one before. We offer the On-Ramp once in the Fall and Spring. If you are unable to attend all three weeks, studies and connect groups are available year round.
-
We will provide childcare for these 3 weeks for kids up to 5th grade. Your community group will also come up with a plan for your group after you move offsite.
-
We will provide dinner for weeks 2 and 3 of the On-Ramp; however, we will not provide food for kids in childcare. They will need to eat beforehand.
-
Our primary method for placement will be area of town. We have seen that one of the biggest factors for a group succeeding is being close enough to do real life together.
-
We will meet at Port City Community Church in the main Auditorium.
-
We do require all community group participants to attend all 3 weeks of the On-Ramp. We are providing child care to help make this possible for families with kids.
-
No registration is required for the On-Ramp. If you will need childcare, please give us a heads up by filling out the form at the bottom of this page.
