Graphic and Environment Designer

Position: Full-Time Hourly, FLSA non-exempt
Reports To: Media Team Lead
Campus: Wilmington
Pay Range: $19-$21/hour, dependent upon experience

PURPOSE

The Graphic and Environment Designer serves Port City Community Church leading the way in producing high-quality graphic content that inspires engagement in the life of our church and the Kingdom of God. This role creates content to support church gatherings, equip the Wilmington Campus's ministry operations, and help steward Port City Community Church's overarching visual identity. This role also contributes to the environmental design of the Wilmington campus. Ultimately, this role helps lead the way by creating spaces and content that are creative, inspiring, and excellent, to draw people further into the mission of Port City Community Church and the Kingdom of God.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must love Jesus and the people of Port City Community Church.

  • Must love and be highly skilled and artistic in graphic design. (3+ years experience strongly preferred)

  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (primary design platform) and Canva (for resourcing other staff members).

  • Must possess a willingness to adapt and be flexible while working above and beyond expectations.

  • Must be an advocate for the culture and vision of Port City Community Church.

  • Must be a tenacious learner.

  • Must have a high-momentum, high-capacity, positive, over-coming, dreaming, creative-can-do-whatever-it-takes attitude.

  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions while keeping a keen attention to detail.

  • Must have flexibility in weekly schedule as some nights will be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

FIRST THINGS FIRST

  • Embody and champion the culture of Port City Church.

  • Serve as a lead Graphic Designer for Port City Community Church.

  • Lead all Graphic Design Interns and Volunteers.

AREAS OF OWNERSHIP

Wilmington Campus Graphic Design

  • Serve as a lead graphic designer for the Wilmington campus, setting the tone for collaboration and open communication with other designers, contractors, and volunteers.

  • Lead the way in creating engaging and excellent graphic content for Sunday and Overflow teaching series and the Wilmington Campus Ministry Teams.

  • In collaboration with the Wilmington Media Team Lead, manage graphic design contractor relationships to preserve Port City brand integrity and effectively resource ministry activities

  • Participate in and contribute to Discovery, Pitch, and Review meetings to ensure the series graphic content aligns with the heartbeat of projects.

  • Collaborate with the Wilmington Production Team and other designers to create supporting graphic content for all Sunday and Overflow Gatherings.

  • Collaborate with the Wilmington Engagement Team to design in-person communication resources (e.g., monthly bulletin, handouts, discipleship resources).

  • Assist Wilmington Campus Ministry Teams with graphic design projects by providing support, training, and templates that help the ministry produce high-quality graphics that support ministry activity.

Port City Community Church Graphic Content

  • Collaborate closely with the Wilmington Media Team and Port City Community Church Story Creative Team to manage the overarching Port City Community Church graphic brand.

  • Collaborate with the Story Creative Team to create content that helps tell the story of Port City Community Church.

  • Contribute graphic support to other church campuses as assigned and as opportunities arise.

Wilmington Campus Environment Design

  • Design an inspiring and engaging environment for the Wilmington Campus spaces and resources that help people engage with what we are learning together and participating in as a church.

  • Collaborate with the Wilmington Campus Engagement Team and Director of Operations on interior design projects and initiatives.

AREAS OF COLLABORATION:

Graphic Design Intern(s) and Volunteers

  • Lead interns and volunteers to create graphic design content while helping them grow as disciples of Jesus. 

  • Collaborate with the Wilmington Digital Communication Coordinator to create engaging communication content that engages people in the life of the church.

General Areas of Contribution

  • Work with the Wilmington Media Team to cultivate a vision for spiritual growth, biblical teaching, leadership development, and ministry care for all Media Team volunteers and interns.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and tools and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending design workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional development, etc.

  • Lead one-on-one meetings with volunteers, interns, and contractors to build relationships, discipleship, and spiritual growth.

  • Contribute to the weekly Media Team Meeting and all other meetings as needed.

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE

Full time (40 hours, excluding lunch)

  • Monday 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Tuesday 9:00am-5:00pm

  • Wednesday 9:00am-6:00pm

  • Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Friday 9:00am-3:00pm

  • All Port City Staff (regardless of role, position, or typical work schedule are required to work Christmas Eve services and Easter weekend services.
