Middle School Music Coordinator
Position: Part-Time Hourly
Reports To: Worship Discipleship Pastor
Campus: Wilmington
Pay Range: $17-$19 dependent upon experience
PURPOSE
The Middle School Music Coordinator serves Port City Community Church by leading and developing worship within middle school ministry environments, specifically Tsunami. This role equips students to engage in worship and grow as musicians and leaders while helping create environments where they can encounter God and take next steps in their faith.
This individual also supports music and worship efforts across broader ministry environments, including Tsunami, Overflow, Sundays, and special events, helping ensure alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Port City Community Church.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Must be a believer in Jesus Christ and an active participant of Port City Community Church
Must demonstrate a value of and naturally participate in personal evangelism
Must be team-oriented with the ability to support and advance Music Department objectives
Must excel in ministry commitment, conduct, and professionalism
Must possess training and development skills
Must be action and goal-oriented
Must be computer literate
Working knowledge of music theory
Working knowledge of Ableton Live, Multitracks, Planning Center, and related music software
Must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Must be highly ethical and able to process sensitive information confidentially
Must demonstrate patience, confidence, and humility, while addressing issues in alignment with Scripture and church values
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Invest in the spiritual and musical development of the next generation
Areas of Ownership
1. Student Ministry Worship Leadership | 5 Hours / Week (Gathering Planning)
Plan and oversee worship environments for Tsunami gatherings
Create engaging, age-appropriate worship experiences aligned with middle school ministry goals
Coordinate worship preparation including:
Setlists and arrangements
Team scheduling
Planning Center organization
Charts and lyric sheets
Loops, tracks, and Ableton sessions
Ensure all musical resources are organized and accessible for teams
2. Gathering Execution & Rehearsal Leadership | 5 Hours / Week
Lead rehearsals and worship gatherings for middle school ministry environments
Provide musical and spiritual leadership during services and rehearsals
Build and maintain healthy volunteer teams of students and adults
Ensure excellence in execution and team culture during gatherings
3. Student Development | 5 Hours / Week
Disciple and develop students as worship leaders and musicians
Provide coaching, training, and skill development opportunities
Equip students to grow in both character and competency
Invest intentionally in the next generation through mentoring and musical development
Areas of Collaboration
Broader Ministry Support & Staff Collaboration | 5–10 Hours / Week
Support preparation and execution of worship environments across ministries as needed
Assist with scheduling, rehearsal support, and resource preparation
Serve musically in various environments when needed
Creative Expression
Participate in writing and developing original music and creative elements
Contribute to arrangements and musical direction within the ministry
Support creative initiatives serving both student ministries and the broader church
Planning & Programming
Attend planning, creative, and programming meetings related to services, events, retreats, and camps
Collaborate with staff to ensure alignment and excellence across ministry environments
GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE
Part-Time: 20–25 Hours / Week (excluding lunch)
Weekly Hour Allocation

5–10 Hours: Meetings, Collaboration & Broader Ministry Contributions
All Port City employees regardless of position, status, etc. are required to serve during Christmas Eve and Easter Weekend services.
