A'Zeah

A'Zeah is in the 8th grade and in her downtime, she likes to play video games and watch TV. She’s also a great student and proud she got a 100 on her math test last week!

Her current favorite song is Cherry Waves by Deftones “because it starts off slow and then goes very loud.”

Speaking of loud, A’Zeah has also been a Freedom School Scholar the past 3 summers, where each morning starts with choreographed cheers and chants. The high-energy summer program is run by CIS and is focused on helping students discover joy in reading and making their unique mark on the community and wider world around them.

Freedom School also gave her a little extra time with her CIS Student Support Specialist, Ms. Erin Smith, who A’Zeah describes as “Authentic. Because she is one of a kind.”

A’Zeah says her time with CIS has brought out her creative side, inspired a love of crafting and made her “very active in general now.” Through the program she’s made lifelong friends and broadened her world view.

The visits from I am Herd Mustang Sanctuary at Freedom School were also a hit with A’Zeah as she dreams of having a farm someday with a bunch of animals, including a tiger. When asked how she would change the world, she added that she “Would save the Polar Bears.”

The world needs your light! We’re so happy to know you, A’Zeah!
