Sarah
Today we highlight Laney High School Graduate Sarah! Sarah has volunteered for NHC Teen Court for 4 years. In her spare time she enjoys staying active, reading, spending time at the beach with friends and family.
This fall, she plans to major in biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to pursue a career in Pharmaceutical Research.
“I hope to change the world by making a positive impact on the people around me and helping others feel understood. Through experiences like Teen Court, I've learned the importance of empathy and fairness and I want to carry these values into my future by contributing to a more understanding and just community,” said Sarah.
According to Sarah, she appreciates getting an inside look into how the justice system works, and being able to play a role in helping my peers learn and grow from their mistakes.
“It was very meaningful to be able to be a part of something that focused on accountability and growth rather than just punishment. I will also remember the people I was able to work with and the teamwork involved in each case,” said Sarah. “Teen Court has helped me build confidence in speaking and thinking on the spot, as well as strengthening my communication skills. It also taught me how to look at situations from multiple perspectives and be more impartial when making decisions.”
Great work, Sarah! We know you’ll continue to make your unique mark on the world! ✨🎓
